After several treks along the northern part of the King’s Trail between Abisko and Kvikkjokk in 2005 it was time to complete the southern part of the trail between: Kvikkjokk and Hemavan.

This part of the King’s Trail is much less travelled than the northern part. The rumor is that it is not very interesting, and this may have scared off many hikers. However, the true reason is probably that there are no manne cabins along a large part of the trail south of Kvikkjokk. So you need to carry your own tent and more provisions. The result is a heavier backpack and a need for much more planning. You need more experience as a backpacker to complete this part of the trail.

On the segment between Ammarnäs and Hemavan STF have 5 manned cabins and the number of hikers is much higher than between Kvikkjokk and Ammarnäs.

This part of the King’s Trail is offering beautiful and changing vistas.
