Cultural Town Walk

Location: Qasigiannguit

Qasigiannguit is an exciting town to explore, and we will start at the town’s museum. Today, the museum, located in Poul Egede’s old shop from 1734, houses a unique archaeological collection from the excavations of a settlement from the Saqqaq culture (2400-1400 BC).

In addition, you can experience exhibitions about the life of the hunter and fishers and the production of shrimp, which in the 1960s and several decades onwards made Qasigiannguit a thriving town, where the shrimp were called the Pink Gold.

Later, we walk past the heliport and many of the sled dogs from the museum before reaching the main street. Along the way, your guide will tell you about the history from colony to now.
