Location: Qasigiannguit
Dog sledding over land, ice lakes, and fjords for three days. Spend two nights in a warm lodge, eat local meat for dinner and spend hours outside in the Arctic winter wonderland. Have you ever fantasized about joining an Arctic expedition? If so, you might enjoy this journey.
Consider this scenario: You’re wearing warm sealskin and riding on a sled with beautiful Greenlandic sled dogs infront. The sky is bright above you, and you might even catch a glimpse of the northern light dancing as you drive toward the cozy cabin.
Please note
– 1-2 persons pr. dog sled
– There is a maximum of six people on this tour
Included
Sealskin clothing, warm boots, sleeping equipment, and food. The food will be either reindeer, muskox, or fish, all locally caught.
Itinerary
We pack our luggage and food for both dogs and humans onto the sled and proceed into the hinterlands of Qasigiannguit.
On the first day, we travel 35 kilometers across land and ice lakes to Tasiusaq, where we will spend the night.
After breakfast on Day 2, it’s time to head to the next stunning location, Saqqarliup Glacier. Again, the route is relatively level, and we cover the 25 kilometers in approximately 2.5 hours. When you arrive at the glacier, we enjoy our lunch and a cup of warm coffee or tea before we turn the sleds and drive back to the warm cabin.
We’ll make dinner with local ingredients again in the evening.
On Day 3, you should have gotten a good night’s sleep in cabin and be ready to tackle the lengthy stretch on the dog sled. We have breakfast in the cabin, make the lunch and pack all our things before cleaning the cabin. We pack the sleds and get ready to drive back to town.
