Location: Ilulissat
We will sail south of Ilimanaq to Itilliup Ilua on this expedition. First, we are dropped off on a broad sandy beach and then driven into the Arctic tundra in off-road vehicles until we reach the Tasiusaq Fjord system. For thousands of years, this location has been a popular hunting spot. Next, we cruise deeper into the fjord, between the icebergs, to the fjord’s end, where the two glaciers and the ice sheet can be seen.
We go ashore and have our packed lunch with a glacier view. We then walk towards and, finally, climb onto the massive ice sheet.
Please note
– The terrain is sometimes uneven. This trip is not recommended if you have severe neck or back problems.
– This trip starts in Ilimanaq and ends in Ilimanaq. Remember to get a ticket on the shuttle boat to get back and forth between Ilulissat and Ilimanaq.
– A lunch pack, coffee, and tea are included.
– The boat trip from Ilimanaq is in an open boat with a reinforced hull to safely handle the ice.
– Participants must be at least 12 years old.
