Winter Adventure – Snowmobile & hike on the sea ice
Snowmobile, hike on the sea ice and visit to Aattartoq (trapping site 25 km into the ice fjord)
The trip goes by snowmobile up the mountain behind the town and further into the hinterland. After approx. 1 hour’s drive arrives at Aattartoq, a fishing ground 25 km inside the ice fjord.
Aattartoq is a unique place with a fantastic view of the frozen ice fjord, the glacier “Den døde bræ” and the life of the local fishermen.
We set up the snowmobiles and set off on foot onto the sea ice. Far away from the city, it will surprise many how much life there is out here. This is the favorite fishing spot of the local trappers/fishermen in the winter. It will be possible to walk around and see how life goes on out there. We will then head out onto the sea ice. We follow the tracks of the sleds and will pass by fishing grounds, icebergs and dog sleds along the way.
The hike on the sea ice will take 1.5-2 hours.
During the trip, the guide will offer hot cocoa and cookies.
After the hike, we drive the snowmobiles back to town.
It will be possible to use snowshoes during the hike on the sea ice.
Duration: 5 hours
Participants: Please note that the excursion will only take place if a minimum of 2 tickets are booked in total. For example, if you book 1 tickets, at least 1 additional tickets must be sold to other customers for the trip to proceed. A maximum of 8 people will participate.
Language: The guide speaks English, Danish, and Greenlandic
Type of Tour: The guide is driving the snowmobile. Participants are passengers.
Catering: Coffee and tea served
Recommended Clothing: Warm clothes incl. hat and gloves. Helmet and warm suit is included.
