Whale Watching

Go whale watching with Tarajoq Tours and experience the charismatic giants of the sea from an open boat with a 360° panoramic view.

In the summer season, the humpback whale, minke whale and fin whale are the most numerous species. The humpback whale is the acrobat among the great whales, despite its huge size up to 18 metres and 30 tonnes. When it breaches, it can launch its whole body out of the water and strike the surface with its tail and fins. It is easy to recognise by the bump on its back and its long white fins.

Our skipper is always updated on the latest whale sightings in the Disko Bay area, so usually it won’t take long for us to spot the first whale!

Daily scheduled tour at 15:00 (3 pm).

With Tarajoq Tours you’re guaranteed a personal and unique small group experience onboard our nine passenger-boat. Whale watching from a smaller boat allows us to come close to the animals, without unnecessary disturbance of their natural habitat – underlining our pledge to sustainable and responsible tourism.

Meeting point is at the Tourist pontoon near Tankeeraq (harbour gas station) 15 minutes prior to departure. Remember warm clothes, gloves and a hat – It’s cold on the Icefjord even in the summer.

Hot drinks are included in this tour.

Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours
Participants: Please note that the excursion will only take place if a minimum of 2 tickets are booked in total. For example, if you book 1 ticket, at least 1 additional ticket must be sold to other customers for the trip to proceed.
