Ice Fishing by the Fjord

The vast fjord freezes over each winter.

Then it’s time for ice fishing, one of the locals’ preferred winter pastimes.

We travel on the ice to the fishing location from the harbor.

Although the weather will typically be quiet and cold, it’s still vital to wear appropriate outerwear.

You’ll have many opportunities to take in the crisp, frigid air during the day’s fishing trip.

The fjord serves as a lifeline for sailors particularly in the summer but is equally crucial in the winter.

Here, it offers a stable foundation for sledges and snowmobiles.

We take an ice drill on the journey to cut through the heavy fjord ice.

Then all that is left to do is set up your line and hook and begin fishing.

Usually, there will be a lot of fish nibbling on the hook, especially fjord cod and common cod. We will provide you with a hot beverage and interesting fish tales while we wait for the day’s catch.
