- Ravens Nest Adventure Camp – 5 days
Set out on an epic, action-packed 5-day journey to Ravens Nest!
Day 1
The energy is palpable when you arrive early in the morning. Today is all about getting close to nature and embracing the spirit of our camp. A thorough briefing will be given as you settle into your comfortable tents, paired with your fellow adventurers, and it will introduce you to the camp and explain how our activities will run without a hitch.
As soon as everyone is comfortable and introduced, it’s time to begin a captivating walk to an alluring “infinity pool.” On the other side of the island, southeast of the camp, this hidden treasure offers a rejuvenating dip that will awaken your senses and wash away any lingering jetlag. You will be astounded by the breathtaking panoramic views of the enormous fjord system and the towering giants reaching 1000 meters into the sky as we ascend through the picturesque mountains. You’ll get a mouthwatering preview of what’s in store in the days ahead from this glimpse into the wonder of nature.
We’ll come together as the sun goes down for a memorable evening of dining on the rocks warmed by a roaring bonfire. As night falls on the camp, this shared experience will forge enduring bonds and offer plenty of chances for storytelling and laughter.
Get ready for an approximately 7-kilometer hike that will take 4 to 5 hours to complete. The trail’s range in difficulty from easy to medium makes it possible for adventurers of all fitness levels to take in the natural splendors along the way.
Day 2
Our goal is to spend the night right next to the magnificent Itisoq Glacier, which is standing tall at about 750 meters, on our second day, making it an unforgettable adventure. The weather will determine whether or not we use tents (or sleep under the stars), which will add excitement and unpredictability to our journey.
After a leisurely morning at camp enjoying aromatic coffee and a sumptuous breakfast, we will set out at noon to begin our ascent towards the glacier. Our route will combine semi-steep hiking with alpine hiking (scrambling), making for an exhilarating and energizing experience. Our perseverance will be rewarded as we travel through a captivating canyon, where the difficult terrain and breathtaking views will reward us. As we emerge from the canyon’s upper reaches, a huge bowl surrounded by impossibly high mountains will suddenly envelop us. Our campsite will be here, where we’ll stop, unload our packs, and, for those who are up for it, continue on to reach the summit at 1100 meters.
We will take advantage of the chance to make priceless memories while searching for a mesmerizing sunset before retiring for the night in our comfortable sleeping bags. We will all come together as night falls to enjoy a well-earned dinner while embracing the spirit of exploration with cuisine fit for an expedition. This gathering will also be a great opportunity for us to connect with our fellow adventurers on a more personal level and share personal stories.
Our hike and ascent will cover a total distance of about 5 kilometers, with an elevation gain of either 750 meters at the camp or 1100 meters at the summit. A full day of exhilarating activities that will test your limits is expected. Although this expedition is not for the timid, it promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Day 3
We are going to make the most of the morning after the taxing hike the day before. We will take our time and slowly take in the magnificent scenery and mountains that surround us. A delicious breakfast and a steaming cup of coffee will be provided before we start our descent back to basecamp, giving us the ideal start to the day. As soon as we arrive at the basecamp, the atmosphere changes to one of complete relaxation. The sauna tent will be set on fire, providing a warm, restorative haven.
We have stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) available for those looking for a little adventure. The chance to practice while getting ready for our upcoming trip will be enormous thanks to these boards.
The only sound you’ll hear is the gentle lapping of the waves, and the views are mesmerizing. You could try your hand at shoreline fishing as an alternative. With a fishing rod in hand, we stand a very good chance of landing a tasty addition to our dinner. You will undoubtedly play a significant role in the preparation of freshly caught fish, birds, or vegetables. And don’t worry—we’ll make sure the cuisine stays varied so that everyone can find something they enjoy. Every moment in Greenland is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the wonders of nature, and we’ll do everything in our power to make sure your experience is nothing short of extraordinary.
Total time, ascent, and distance traveled while hiking: approximately 5 km. 4 to 5 hours.
Day 4
We plan to hike along a ridge today, which will be framed by stunning fjords and enormous, majestic mountains. But first, we must set out on yet another thrilling journey, this time paddling across the bay on our dependable stand-up paddleboards (SUPs). Each stroke moves us closer to our destination as we paddle through the breathtaking waters, making the scenery even more enthralling. With picture-perfect landscapes around every corner, the beauty of it all is simply beyond description. This is your chance to experience nature in all its splendor, to experience the rush of adrenaline as you scale heights and take in the beauty of these mighty mountains and tranquil fiords.
Day 5
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll fuel up for one last day of exhilarating exploration. This time, in the northeastern part of our camp, we set out on a thrilling adventure. We will use our stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) to paddle across the picturesque Itisoq Bay for about 30 minutes (this distance can also be hiked). As soon as we arrive at the shore, we will start an exciting hike in the direction of a magnificent mountain that we jokingly refer to as “The Shark Fin.”
Prepare for a mind-blowing spectacle as you take in the breathtaking views all around you. Your surroundings will be the expansive, alluring eastern portion of the second-largest fjord system in the world and breath-taking mountains. We say goodbye to the refreshing sea breeze and return to basecamp in preparation for our boat ride back to Nuuk. We will return to town on this day with a wealth of priceless memories and countless stories to tell our loved ones back home!
Be prepared to hike for about 6 kilometers and gain 400 meters of altitude. For this exciting adventure, allow 4-5 hours.
