If you’re into hiking, The “Old Mail Route”-hike between Oqaatsut and Ilulissat is a must-do! The trail is well marked with orange dots and is about 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) and is usually done in 6-7 hours.
Our boat shuttle leaves Ilulissat at 9 AM and after 30 minutes of sailing, we’ll reach the settlement of Oqaatsut (also known as Rodebay). The captain will point out the trailhead and give a brief introduction to the sights of Oqaatsut, where most hikers spend an hour exploring before beginning their hike.
Remember boots/shoes for hiking, warm clothes, gloves and a hat.
The hike is on a moderate level and can be done by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
