Location: Ilulissat
The Eqi Glacier, which runs into a fjord 80 kilometers north of Ilulissat, is one of Greenland’s most spectacular sights. By boat, you can get very near the glacier and hopefully witness ice fragments breaking off. The sounds are massive, and the views are spectacular.
We pass by tiny settlements, a stunning waterfall, steep mountains, and icebergs of fantastic shapes and hues along the trip. And that’s before the glacier and the massive Ice Sheet even appear. We might even see seals and whales along the way if we’re lucky.
Before returning to Ilulissat, we’ll have lunch in front of the glacier for around two hours.
Please note
– The duration of the boat ride varies based on the type of boat employed that day. The duration ranges from 6 to 12 hours. Lunch takes about two hours in front of the glacier.
– We will be sailing on protected and comfy boats, but you should still pack warm clothing.
– See also our Glacier Lodge Eqi stays, where you can stay in cottages with breathtaking views of the glacier.
