One of Greenland’s most picturesque villages is Igaliku (Gardar). The vibrant homes are set beside a fjord that is the color of milky blue on lush grassland. The famous Illerfissalik (Burfjeld) Mountain rises over a rocky and barren terrain on the other side of the fjord.
Among the most significant settlements during the Norse Period was Igaliku. It served as the location of Greenland’s Norse parliament. Court cases were heard here, laws were made, and after Christianity was introduced, Igaliku became the home of the Episcopal community. You can now explore the numerous Norse ruins by strolling around the UNESCO site.
Note that one ticket is for a single night in a double room in one of our cabins. Simply book one ticket per night you want to stay. Every cabin has electricity, heating, and a private bathroom with a shower, WC, and running cold and warm water. A boiler and free tea and coffee are also available.
