A Trip to Eqip Sermia
Join us on a full-day boat trip to the spectacular Eqip Sermia glacier, one of Greenland’s most active and awe-inspiring calving glaciers. Travel aboard a boat from Disko Line, surrounded by icebergs and the crisp northern air.
Aboard the boat, a guide will share fascinating insights about the glacier and its surroundings. We spend about two hours in front of the glacier, where you’ll have a front-row seat to witness dramatic calving events as ice blocks break off and crash into the sea.
During the trip you are free to enjoy the indoor and outdoor viewing areas, and restrooms are available on the boat.
What’s included:
– A nicely seasoned lunch made with Greenlandic ingredients, as well as coffee, tea, and fresh cake. You’re welcome to bring your own beverages and snacks, such as water or soda.
– Shuttle Service: Before departure, a shuttle bus will take you from the Disko Line Explore building to the boat, and return you there after the trip.
Trip Duration
This is a full-day excursion. Travel time each way is 2–5 hours, depending on the boat. In addition, we spend around 2 hours by the glacier front to fully enjoy the experience.
Participants: Please note that the excursion will only take place if a minimum of 8 tickets has been booked in total. For example, if you book 6 tickets, at least 2 additional tickets must be sold to other customers for the trip to proceed. A maximum of 36 people will participate.
Language: The guide/captain speaks English, Danish, and Greenlandic
Season
The trip runs during the summer season from mid-June to September. Even in summer, temperatures by the glacier can be low, so dress warmly.

The ship typically also carries guests traveling to or from Glacier Lodge Eqi. If you’re interested in extending your trip with a stay in the area and exploring the glacier on foot, you can book accommodation through World of Greenland.
