Village Visit with Restaurant H8 & Ice Fishing

Join us on a trip out of Ilulissat, where we sail towards the northern village of Oqaatsut. We sail along the coast from Ilulissat, following the route of the drifting icebergs. On arrival at Oqaatsut, we get off the boat onto the thick sea ice that has settled in the bay in front of Oqaatsut. From here we can safely walk to Oqaasut – about 150 meters in the company of the host couple in H8, who meet us at the boat.

At the H8 Explorer, we put on a warm suit so we can keep keep warm on the ice. Together with our guide, we set out on the ice and try our luck at catching the day’s catch through the thick ice. Along the way, it will be possible to warm up with some coffee or tea.

After the fishing trip on the ice, we wander back to Restaurant H8, where we dry off again with a view of the snowy landscape and the frost outside the window. Lunch or dinner will be served in the restaurant, where we can share stories, tales or simply enjoy the view.

There will be an opportunity to wander a bit in the village and explore the area before we sail again towards Ilulissat after an eventful day in Oqaatsut’s beautiful nature and Restaurant H8.

The excursion lasts approx. 6 hours in total. Boat trip to/from Oqaatsut, ice fishing and lunch/dinner in H8 are included in the price.
