Around The World – 1 Hour of Dog Sledding

One of the most powerful symbols for Greenland is the dog sled, an Inuit custom that dates back 2000 years. Few modes of transportation have lasted this long, yet the fundamental idea is still the same as it was before the Viking Age.

A simple wooden sled with some dogs attached in harnesses was used.

The complete silence is broken by the whistling of the medes against the compacted snow and the cracking lashings as the sled turns with the terrain. The experience must be had in order to fully understand it.

The conditions on the day will determine the precise path.
Day to day and season to season, the weather varies. At times, the snow will be deeper, while other times, the terrain will be more icy and rocky.

The musher may not always speak English or Danish well, but we communicate with hand gestures and positive energy.

We recommend warm clothes!
