Location: Ilulissat
Come along with us as we visit the local Women’s Association.
The Women’s Association has 800 members and is active in most towns along the Greenlandic coast. Local women gather here over a cup of coffee and a shared objective of preserving historic Greenlandic traditions and handcraft. Previously, these handcrafts were an important part of local life skills, but today, only a few people know how to do them.
During your visit, there will be a demonstration of various hide care techniques and a casual exhibition and narration about the Greenlandic national costume. Following that, you will have the opportunity to examine the suit and feel the skin and weight of the pearls with your own hands. Coffee and cake will be offered in Greenlandic tradition.
Any visit to Ilulissat will be enhanced by experiencing the traditional vibe in the company of local enthusiasts.
Help us support this fantastic effort — women, men, and children are all welcome.
Please note
