Come along for a once-in-a-lifetime winter adventure as we explore the stunning environment surrounding Nuuk. Experience the breathtaking vantage point known to local snowmobilers as “The Downhill” with our guided snowshoe trip that departs from the city center. Here, you’ll be rewarded with expansive views of the Nuuk fjord and its frozen landscapes.
Our voyage begins at Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, at the tidal staircase. After gathering our gear, we travel to our starting location, from whence we shall progressively ascend in the direction of the refuge.
The snowmobile trail will be partially followed by our route, guaranteeing a well-lit and secure passage. Look for signs of animals as we trek through fresh snow and savor the tranquility of the wintry surroundings.
The trail will test you with an elevation rise of about 400 meters. But don’t worry—every step will be worthwhile because of the breathtaking sights waiting for you at the summit!
We’ll discover a comfortable micro shelter at the viewpoint where we can warm up, relax, and have a hot beverage and a well-earned meal. Sip your tea or coffee and take in the stunning scenery as the fjord spreads out before you, framed by snow-capped peaks.
Photograph aficionados can get a great view from the “Downhill” viewpoint. Seize the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains, the cold fjord, and perhaps even some of the local fauna as you explore Greenland’s winter paradise.
*Note: Depending on the amount of snow and weather, the tour may take an additional hour ❄️
Medium level of difficulty (suited for fit walkers)
Duration: 5 – 6 hours.
