Come along for a cosy stroll up into the stunning hinterland of Nuuk. From the town’s outskirts, the hike leads to the “Downhill,” as the local snowmobilers refer to it. This spot offers a lovely vantage point over the fjord and a cozy little shelter that’s perfect for a rest.
The journey begins in Kolonihavnen, from where we take a car to the hike’s beginning. When we set out, we will drop into the Paradise Valley first, crossing a few minor rivers along the way. Later, we will follow a larger river up into the mountains, where we will be able to witness multiple waterfalls.
You must be in decent physical condition as we will be rising approximately 400 meters, but the sights are well worth the height! The route is clearly defined and there is a well-traveled trail!
After arriving at the viewpoint, we can have a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and our packed lunch under a little cover.
We’ll spend around an hour exploring the region, during which we might be fortunate enough to spot foxes, grouse, and hares while taking in views of the stunning mountains of the Nuuk Fjord.
Along with providing safety gear including a tiny first aid kit, a VHF radio, and a GPS with an emergency button, the local guide will educate the runners about the flora and animals.
Difficulty:Duration: 5 – 6 Hours
